Project Objectives

  • On the scientific level: To combine empirical and conceptual research and technical innovations to optimise care provision for women with eating disorders by

    • determining the role of genetic, psychological and sociocultural factors and their interaction for the development of an eating disorder
    • identifying mechanisms and influences determining the processes of getting ill, getting well and staying well
    • developing novel e-health tools for the optimisation of health care provision.
  • On the educational level: To enable young European researchers to acquire expertise and know-how concerning the aetiology and treatment of eating disorders by

    • implementing a thorough training in one of the core approaches to optimise care provision for patients with eating disorders
    • imparting an integrative viewpoint and interdisciplinary style of thinking.
  • On the societal level: To bring the gained knowledge and e-health tools to bear on therapeutic interventions and public health strategies by

    • disseminating the scientific results to the scientific and clinical community as well as to non-academic organisations, e. g. carer and patient organisations
    • transferring the gained knowledge to relevant social institutions and to the public, in particular, to stakeholders in the public health system
    • deploying the technical innovations, e.g. e-health tools, into routine care.
